Christ's Love

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. 

This verse kept going through my head on Sunday while singing "Here I am to worship". Its one of those verses that is memorized often as a reminder of Christ's sacrifice for us. Its also a verse that is sometimes memorized but later forgotten. While singing I had an overwhelming feeling came over me about the realization of Christ's sacrifice and pain He suffered for us. God's wrath for our sin is beyond our comprehension and at times taken down played. Yes God is a God of love but he is also a God of great wrath toward sin, Romans 1: 18-32. 

I imagined Jesus nailed onto the cross and God up in heaven POURING (Def: flow of a rapid steady stream) out His wrath while crying out every human being's name. YES, EVERY human being's name. I imagined God going down the infinite list of names to ensure everyone would have the opportunity to be forgiven if they choose Christ Jesus. Just my name alone would have taken FOREVER to get through... and yet Jesus remained on the cross and suffered through all that pain that we might have eternal live FREE. 

Why would we not want that free gift??

Its at times like this that we need to remember there are those out there who have not heard about Jesus and His painful sacrifice on the cross for us. He took our place that we might live!
